Daniel Kuesis, MD

Daniel Kuesis, MDDr. Daniel T. Kuesis specializes in joint replacement, hip and knee disorders, minimally invasive hip and knee surgery, hip and knee arthroscopy, and sports medicine. Dr. Kuesis has performed more than 500 hip and knee procedures within the past year. He received his medical degree from Northwestern University and completed his surgical internship and orthopaedic residency at Duke University Medical Center. During his tenure at Duke, he was a physician for the Duke University and North Carolina Central University sports teams and the airborne and special forces divisions at Fort Bragg. Dr. Kuesis continued his medical training with a fellowship at New England Baptist Hospital in Boston. He has published numerous papers on joint replacement, alternate-bearing surfaces for total hip replacements and sports-related injuries. Dr. Kuesis is a member of the honorary medical society Alpha Omega Alpha and graduated magna cum laude from Illinois Benedictine College.

Gregory Drake, DO

Gregory Drake, DOCore Orthopedics is pleased to announce the addition of Dr. Gregory Drake September 1, 2009. He shares the same philosophy of maximizing conservative treatment. When surgical intervention is required, Dr. Drake is trained to perform complex surgery of the spine & shoulder. Dr. Drake also manages common orthopedic conditions that include sport injuries and fracture care.

Dr. Gregory Drake is dual fellowship trained in shoulder and elbow surgery and adult spinal reconstructive surgery. He graduated magna cum laude from Rockhurst College in Kansas City, followed by his medical training at Kansas City University of Medicine and Biosciences where he graduated summa cum laude. He completed a general medical internship at Botsford Hospital in Farmington Hills, Michigan, followed by his orthopedic residency where he served as chief resident of the hospital.

Dr. Drake completed a spinal reconstructive fellowship through Michigan Spine and Brain Surgeons where he completed over 350 major spine surgeries. He specializes in minimally invasive spine surgery and is able to perform a spinal fusion through two, one inch incisions. He believes in preserving the adjacent segment of the spine and the minimalistic approach. He has been trained in treating the complete spine including the cervical, thoracic and lumbar regions. He also treats compression fractures of the spine with vertebral kyphoplasty.

Dr. Drake’s second fellowship was performed under the tutelage of world renowned surgeons, Dr. Gary Gartsman and Dr. T. Bradley Edwards at Fondren Orthopedic Group. He performed over 700 cases last year including 300 shoulder replacements and 400 sports related and degenerative arthroscopic shoulder procedures. Rotator cuff repair, shoulder instability, distal clavicle resection and labral repairs are all performed through small incisions and use of a small camera. Shoulder replacement surgery includes the standard replacement for those with arthritis, as well as the reverse total shoulder in those whose rotator cuff is deficient. Other surgical procedures he performs on the shoulder include tendon transfers, arthroscopic suprascapular nerve releases, Latarjet coracoid transfers for shoulder dislocations and resurfacing procedures.

Dr. Drake has several publications, including book chapters, and has research published in major journals such as Journal of Bone and Joint Surgeons, Journal of Shoulder and Elbow Surgeons, The Journal of Arthroplasty, and Techniques of Shoulder and Elbow Surgery. He is excited to join Core Orthopedics and Sports Medicine.
